I need to change colors (background and the object) without using painting because I need to keep the textures. How can I do that? I am using Photoshop Elements 2.0. Thanks!!

You can use either Colourise or Hue and Saturation. There should be sliders in both tools. Just play with those sliders until you get the colours you want.

Use the laso tool which is Shift + L and select the area then use Hue/saturation to change the colour of the selected area- after you have put it on a new layer. - you can use levels as well
They are found in the Image%26gt;adjustments%26gt;shift + U for saturation or Shift + L for levels
